Practicum/OJT Day 3

Today, my boss, Ms. Pro Franco went to Urdaneta, Pangasinan for the Campaign “Small Bizz Loan”. Sir Berns on the other hand had his leave and went to Davao. That left me alone in my work station, though Ms. Malou is at the private room.
So what I did today was call every branch of Planters Development Bank regarding the data that I need to gather for the report of the department on Monday. Unfortunately, Branch Managers of each branch were not in their branch. It’s either they had to meet clients today or also went to Urdaneta, Pangasinan for the said campaign. But still I tried to call and Ms. Malou sent out emails to the branches. So, today, I didn’t get much data. None significant, because it didn’t even move the final percentages. But atleast Ms. Malou and I tried.

At the end of the day, I prepared the consolidation letter of Ms. Pro which she present to the EVP comes Monday. I have also printed the excel templates me and Ms. Pro did for back up incase the EVP asked for the raw data collected. We are preparing for it because we are anticipating that the EVP would ask for it. The projections haven’t been met as of today because not all branches are cooperating well. Everything was given to each branch - hard copy of the instructions, flyers, templates for the letters that will be released, soft copy of the letters, soft copy of the instructions - all the Branch Mangers have to do is to fill up the templates, send the letters to the pre-approved clients, report to the Brand Manager which is Ms. Pro about the status of the released letters and corporate signatories. Each Branch Manager could do it in one day. Checking their client’s profiles isn’t hard and so is emailing the status. But we do not understand why the Branches are having a hard time at this. It’s either they don’t get what to do (the instructions were given to the in hard copy and was resent soft copy many times, but still don’t get it) or maybe they just don’t want to cooperate and participate. That is not a very wise thing to do considering the benefit the campaign could do for each branch and for Planters Development Bank as a whole. No disrespect, but Branch Managers aren’t worthy of their positions. Some Branch Managers announced that they would not send out letters to any of their clients, some said that their clients are not interested even if they haven’t sent out the letters yet. That shows how uncooperative some Managers are. They can’t even see that referring their campaign to their clients could help their marketing because their client, even if do not avail, may tell it to other people. I don’t know, maybe Ms. Pro was right, she needs to enroll those Branch Managers back to school.

But what I really like about this company are its people. They are so friendly, even if they are in different department, they still mingle with me and other people. They encourage me to do good for me to have a very good chance at getting absorbed. Different people here in the building have invited me to have lunch with them because they know I’m new, but I stick with Sir Berns and Ms Marj because I already feel comfortable with them. People here in PlantersBank are really making me feel comfortable and treating me like any other worker here. They gave me a very warm welcome.
